At a time when most dance and electronic music is created on laptops and with computer software, Playloop Records artist Kezner takes a step back in time to offer up the sound of the future. The artist’s vast knowledge of both digital and analog production techniques results in a sound that’s full of warmth and with a soulful bite that’s rarely achieved with computers alone. This is music for serious electronic music fans.
Musically, Kezner spent much of his youth touring West Virginia and Maryland as bass player and vocalist for a Southern Gospel band. As darker and more electronic sounds started rising from the underground, Kezner first became infatuated with the music of industrial acts like Front 242, and then more club oriented acts like Underworld. With dance music’s explosion in the late-90’s Kezner started playing around with computers, digital sample editing, and music production software for basic sampling and beats. Combining this new digital gear with his knowledge of the bass, Kezner’s first electronic music productions came together quickly.

Kezner became fully immersed and obsessed with the electronic music scene while a student at Marshall University. It was during this time that he purchased his first set of turntables and he became a regular vinyl shopper at KnightTime Music is Milton, West Virginia. In 1999, while continuing to write music and play bass with friends, Kezner also started attending his first Playloop promoted parties and befriended DJ Everyday and Steve Waller. In 2002, Kezner met Justin Paul and started DJing and presenting live video projections at the popular Playloop parties. Kezner eventually became a resident DJ in Huntington, West Virginia and formed electronic music production duo Locality with his friend DJ Everyday.
Now based in Philadelphia, Kezner is part of the city’s flourishing new dance scene and a recording artist for hot young label Playloop Records. Recent Kezner tracks “Assimilated” and “If The Sun Sets” have generated a wealth of underground buzz for a sound that perfectly combines thick and heavy live bass with a slick electronic undertone. These tracks are set to be featured on Playloop’s first label compilation Get Into The Loop Volume 1 (Out in April) and Kezner’s forthcoming artist album, scheduled for release summer 2007.
